The last few months have been very busy for me, firstly all my teaching and show engagements seem to congregate in the same area of the year and secondly I have been looking at ways to improve customer service. I have finished all my Australian commitments for this year, my wife and I enjoyed the UK immensely, making new friends at classes and the Harrogate Knitting and Stitches Show.
My thanks to "Viking Loom" for their kind collaboration which has made this trip possible. For Uk customers you will find a link to their site on the LINKS page.
I have some classes booked for teaching in 2006. In Australia I will be teaching again at the very popular Koala Convention in beautiful Brisbane.
The Koala Convention would be the biggest and best organized needle work event in Australia and in 2006 it will also be coming to NSW.
You will find details on their site on the LINKS page.
I am also very excited to be doing 2 months of teaching in New Zealand in 2006 as a guest of the
Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds INC.
You will find all the dates on my TEACHING page and their site on the LINKS page.
I have decided to make several changes to Gary Clarke Designs over the next year.
Web Site.
The first is the Web site this will be updated slowly but surely, making it more and more user friendly with more products on offer.
Kit Instructions.
Instructions are very important, all my new kits will have a new format.
They will consist of:
A double sided A3 page of instructions, a full colour enlargement of the design with stitches and threads marked, this enables one to follow the pattern simply by following the picture. In this way even the direction and size of the stitch can be seen clearly.
Kits.
The web sit will have three types of kits available. Organza, Soft Cotton as in candlewicking and the like, also Beaded silk work. Beaded silk work is embroidery onto a pre printed ground fabric, it is embellished with beads and a variety of gold thread and crystals.
Publications.
There are 3 new publications this year, these are spiral bound work books mainly designs suitable for needlework. They are spiral bound for ease of transfer to the fabric. They are also single sided so that they might be clearly enlarged or reduced.
"The Challenge"
This will be a free club like program for people who would like more of a challenge in embroidery. The difficulty I have always found is that one must keep projects very simple as the instruction then must be written. Members of the club will be able to purchase kits that will be a little more challenging. They will be limited editions, therefore I will be using fabrics and threads that may be in them selves limited. The Challenge will be eventually open only to those people who have been to one of my classes, who understand my desire to see embroidery go beyond the expected. However if you have already been to one of my classes or are interested in testing the boundaries please submit your Email address to info@garyclarkedesigns.com
New Kits to come
Over the next few months I will be working on a new range of kits in the whitework family that will use different disciplines from a variety of types of embroidery, so keep an eye out for them.
