The last news letter was written with all the best intentions and with an expectation of being updated regularly.
As I come to up date it I am ashamed that it's been so long and that I have been so slow in getting some things done.
New Zealand was magnificent, the country, the hospitality and the quality of work. I must congratulate the ladies of Gore for the best run event that I have ever attended.
I am hoping to return to New Zealand in 2010, and if possible get around to some guilds as before.
You will notice some new kits and some releases of kits that were first seen at the Koala Convention.
Next year, 2009 is shaping up to be a busy year. I have been invited to be a guest at the Annual Embroiderers Association of Canada in Kingston Ontario. http://eac.ca/Seminar/2009/2009homepage.htm
There may also be a possibility of seeing some other parts of the country as I did in New Zealand.
Coming home from Canada I will be calling in to England to catch up with my agent and perhaps a few stockists of my kits. From England it will be straight to Brisbane to start the Koala Convention 4th - 12th July 2009.
This year I have been trying to add quality to my kit instructions, especially for classes. From next year on the student will receive a CD of the class instructions along with photographs of the worked models, a comprehensive stitch glossary and anything else that might be appropriate to the project, before the class. Having the instructions etc before the class will give the student the opportunity to get familiar with the project. So often I find ladies, who if they had known, they would have brought a particular thread or bead.
Having every thing on CD enables one to give more; especially for overseas classes where to post paper is costly. It also gives the student to view the photographs with more clarity and enables them to enlarge portions of the design. This will be particularly helpful to those who may not finish in class.
In the future I plan to have my books and kit instructions available for direct down load or CD at a lesser cost to the paper version.
I will try not to be so slothful regarding updating the web site.
Best regards Gary
